Barbara Temple – Board Member
Barbara Temple, Treasurer and Board Member of The Right to Learn, Founder of the College Scholarship Progam
Barbara Temple was born in Manhattan and raised in its suburb, Pelham Manor, in Westchester County, NY. She graduated from Pelham Memorial High School, and then from Ohio Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Spanish. She further developed her fluency in Spanish while in Mexico, Spain, South America, Puerto Rico, and Nicaragua. Barbara worked primarily as a singer and in the radio industry. Places she has called “home” include New York, Ohio, California, Georgia, Massachuesetts, and Rhode Island. She now lives on Block Island, RI.
Barbara met Louise Brunberg at Harbor Church on Block Island, and quickly became involved in “Right to Learn” soon after. She has visited Nagarote twice so far. Previously, Barbara served as Vice President of the The Right to Learn, and is now its Treasurer. She has also served to spearhead The Right to Learn’s College Scholarship Program, which ensures that students who have completed their secondary education, are afforded the opportunity to continue their pursuit of higher learning. Providing these students such an opportunity enables them to secure jobs in a country with remarkably high unemployment, and then to help support thier own families.
