The Water Tank Project
The availability of water is a constant concern in Nicaragua. Specifically, the area of the country where Nagarote is located has major water scarcity problems due to its hot, dry climate. Furthermore, School of Louise’s Dreams is located on top of a hill in Nagarote, and most of the day the municipal water pump is not powerful enough to provide this area with water. The result has been a daily lack of water over the years.
In May of 2008, James Johnson, a building contractor from Florida, donated his time and materials to create a 2500 liter water tank and a method to capture the rainwater coming off the roof. By elevating the tank, gravity can be deputized to create enough water pressure to flush the toilets and provide water for cleaning.
Today, thanks to James Johnson, the school finds that the new tank allows them to meet their demand for water.
